Saudi Arabia: Mandatory application of SASO 2927:2019 on energy efficiency, functionality and labelling requirements of street lighting products

FEBRUARY 2020 – RELEVANT FOR: ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS

On 28 March 2019, Saudi Arabian Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) adopted Standard SASO 2927:2019 in its meeting No.170. This standard establishes energy efficiency functionality and labelling requirements for street lighting products.
Specific requirements involve:

• Classification of street/road lighting (cover Type M, C and P)
• Tunnel lighting (cover daylight and nightlight for tunnels)
• Technical requirements of lighting products

This standard was into force since 19 January 2020. And it is available only by purchase from the SASO website.
